This was something that needed to get done the moment we moved into this house. But it waited till now that we were able to. We sent the boys away for 5 days that turned to 9 O.o It was a long time! And we still weren't fully finished when they came home. And we still have a few little details to finish up, but our kitchen is up and running, mostly :) I do love it! Being our first ever kitchen gut-the-whole-thing and rebuild, I think that it turned out exceptionally well. Isaac is quite amazing, though he does have his limitations hahaha! He worked so hard and was so exhausted after two weeks of this ( and then we had to do the bathroom too 0.0 ). Long long days of little sleep and lots of work and no running water and cold water =) Great memories!
SO! Here it is! the ORIGINAL kitchen when we moved in. Just look at that...potential yes, but not my dream kitchen! What I didn't know, was how much work it would be to change it.
We repainted it and took the ugly doors off. I put up curtains for the bottom cabinets and left the top open. It was much much better than what was originally there, but still needed a lot of help.
I was about 5 months pregnant with Ben when we moved here :) For some reason every time we have been involved in moving or big projects I have been pregnant.
Oh yes and we put in a laundry room too...this house didn't have one. Well, it was in the kitchen next to the fridge. Yea....

Then Isaac made this
Later we put doors on it.
And this was wittle Wade

sniff...baby Wade. He was so fat.
Moving on... This was all in 2012 around April/May.
Now, 2014.
Pregnant again now with our third child and first girl :)
Time to pull everything out. You don't realize how much you have hidden until it's time to pull it out!
Our breakfast. I made a whole bunch of pancakes so we had pre made ones for the following days.
I don't know what Isaac is doing here...some kind of research looks like :)
Moving the kitchen and dining into the living room. Very cluttered! I can't believe how messy it was and that it is all back.
Almost everything is out!
My sweet potatoes, which are still in need of planting. Hopefully they will get planted by either Isaac or me this weekend.
Ready to start demolition!
This was not an easy job.
Long day :)
Our backyard is now a dump...we still have been unable to get to that...but maybe this weekend it will happen :)
And that was day one! As this project progressed I did slow down in taking pictures some, especially once the boys got here, but I will be showing more of the progress in the blog posts to follow.
♥
LOVE all the photos you took! I still can't believe how fast you've accomplished such a huge job!! It's helped that Isaac took off to do a concentrated amount of work while he was home!! What a blessing! Everything looks good...and I saw the "window" in one of the photos above that I asked you about...except maybe it's not a window...It's hard to tell for sure! Hwvr, the large opening w/the iron filigree corner accents is soo pretty. Seems you had photos of this when you first moved in, and I remember thinking, "How pretty!"
ReplyDeleteYour home is soooo pretty! Y'all are doing an excellent job updating it!! AND of course, I love your green walls! Miss y'all! K~
